About me
Traci Easley Williams has over 25 years of immersive experience in higher education, specializing in film/television production, scriptwriting, visual media, and Africana studies. Kent State University (KSU), is where she embarked on her teaching career and eventually rose to the position of Senior Lecturer.
During her tenure at KSU, she had the privilege of serving as the Director of the Center of Pan-African Culture, a role that allowed her to guide and inspire students while also advising various student organizations. Traci created the organization called, Kent State University Independent Films. It was one of three University programs in the United states that produced full feature student-led films. Beyond KSU, she has had the opportunity to share her knowledge and passion by teaching courses at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Currently, she is a full-time faculty member at the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord College of Journalism, where she is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of content creators.
Throughout her career, she has developed a tailored curriculum for a range of courses, focusing on themes such as the representation of people of color, feature film production, scriptwriting, and the empowerment of women in digital media. Additionally, she has authored two textbooks designed to complement her courses, further enriching the learning experience for her students.
Traci's journey in the television and film industry began early on, as she hosted a teenage talk show on the Fox network while still in high school. Since then, she has had the privilege of working on a variety of projects, including feature films, music videos, documentaries, and television series.
Currently pursuing a Ph.D., Traci's research is centered on developing culturally responsive teaching approaches within media production courses. This endeavor reflects her ongoing commitment to advancing pedagogical practices and ensuring that her students receive the highest quality education possible.
Overall, Mrs. Williams journey has been defined by a deep passion for education, media, and cultural representation. She is honored to continue making a meaningful impact in both the academic and professional realms, and looks forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
