About me

Jones is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, podcaster, author, and Assistant Professor of Broadcast & Digital Journalism in the Department of Communication at Mississippi State University. Before returning to his alma mater, he spent twelve years as a producer with the University of Mississippi’s Southern Documentary Project and an instructor in the Center for the Study of Southern Culture's MFA in Documentary Expression program. His films have been broadcast nationally on PBS, won awards from various organizations, and been chosen as official selections of film festivals worldwide. Rex holds an MFA in Science & Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University.
