About me
Dr. Len O'Kelly is in his second career.
His first one spanned 25 years in commercial radio, with all manner of on-air and programming positions in markets ranging from Chicago, Illinois to Gisborne, New Zealand. His last stop on the air was creating "Real Oldies 1480/850," believed to be the nation's first NPR affiliate to run a full-time rock & roll format.
In his second career, he is currently the Associate Director of the School of Communications at Grand Valley State University, serving over 700 undergraduate and masters students in five programs. He moderates a student -run radio station, WCKS, and a laboratory station, WLSX, used by the students in his Introduction to Radio class.
Dr. O'Kelly earned his PhD from Michigan State University. His research is in post-WW2 radio history.
