Chris Roberts is an associate professor in the
Department of Journalism and Creative Media at the
University of Alabama, where he directs the
Office of Research in Media Integrity in the College of Communication and Information Sciences.
He worked in broadcast and print news between ninth grade and 2006, a month before finishing his doctoral degree in mass communication at the University of South Carolina.
His
research focus is on ethics, journalism practice, and the study of the emerging adults in media occupations.
Roberts has been vice chairman of the ethics committee of the
Society of Professional Journalists, and a member of the committee that revised its
ethics code in 2014. He is lead author of
Doing Ethics in Media: Theories and Practical Applications (Routledge, 2nd edition, 2022) and maintains the
book’s website.
