About me
I am the retired Founding Dean of the School of Communication, Media and the Arts at SUNY Oswego. Prior to that I was chair and professor of broadcasting and telecommunications in the Communication Studies department. I am a long-time (meaning old) member of BEA and have chaired the Telcom Update panel for the Law and Policy division since 1996. My current research is in how black and grey propaganda was used in the European theatre during World War II but usually my focus is law and policy. I'm also interested in how technology is impacting all forms of communication, how we assess the adoption and regulation of technology, and how FANG industries are impacting economic and social policy. When not talking about communication policy, I like to talk about classic (60's, 70s) audio, classic rock, national parks, mysteries (mostly books), non-Marvel movies, the Adirondacks, and currently Ted Lasso, the Outsider, etc. (This was the only photo of myself I have on my laptop, so pardon the suit and tie. I may change it when I get to my desktop.)
